The workflow has four stages, from a local prototype to later maintenance. Prototyping chooses a board such as ESP32, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi, sets up the development environment, writes firmware or software, and tests locally. Integration connects a platform such as Home Assistant or AWS IoT, sets up communication protocols, adds authentication and security, and tests the end-to-end flow. Deployment flashes firmware onto devices, configures network settings, registers devices with the platform, and sets up monitoring and logging. Maintenance monitors device health, updates firmware as needed, handles errors and edge cases, and scales the system as needed. Prototyping
- Choose a hardware platform (ESP32, Arduino, Raspberry Pi)
- Set up the development environment
- Write firmware/software
- Test locally
Integration
- Connect to an IoT platform (Home Assistant, AWS IoT, etc.)
- Set up communication protocols
- Implement authentication and security
- Test the end-to-end flow
Deployment
- Flash firmware onto devices
- Configure network settings
- Register devices with the platform
- Set up monitoring and logging
Maintenance
- Monitor device health
- Update firmware as needed
- Handle errors and edge cases
- Scale the system as needed
