Gr8r Studio is a "calm, structured project management workspace" in the style of Linear or Asana: home dashboard, inbox, my tasks, projects with board, list, table, calendar, timeline and files views, members, teams, activity, notifications and settings. A hosted demo is at gr8r-taskmanagement.vercel.app. I cloned the repo, read the README, package.json, CI config and parts of store.js, seed.js, auth.js and actions.js, and searched src/ for network calls. I did not run it or open the demo. Checked 2026-10-22.

What it is
- No framework. Each page or view is a function that returns an HTML string from a global store (
S), andrender()rebuilds the shell while keeping focus and scroll. Elements declaredata-a="actionName", and one delegated click handler callsA.actionName. Inputs usedata-inanddata-blur. - Layered source.
core/anddata/depend on nothing, thenui/,shell/,pages/,views/,overlays/andfeatures/render from state, andactions/change state and re-render. - Design system in CSS. Tokens for color, spacing, type and radius; a shared
--gutter; light, dark and system themes; accent colors; density options; a custom<select>dropdown that keeps the native element as the source of truth; a command palette, task drawer, context menu, drag and drop, and keyboard shortcuts. Avirtual:iconsVite plugin bundles only the Lucide icons the source uses. - Deploy.
vercel.jsonbuilds with Vite and servesdist/. CI runs lint, a Prettier check and a build.
It is a demo, not a product
- Data:
src/data/seed.jsbuilds a made-up workspace (people such as "Tanjim Islam", Head of Product, with@gr8rstudio.comaddresses). State is saved inlocalStorageundergr8r.v2. There are nofetch, WebSocket or XHR calls anywhere insrc/, so nothing is shared between users or devices. - Login:
A.doLoginonly checks that an email looks like an email and that a password is not empty, then waits 750 ms and enters the app. The Google, Microsoft and Apple buttons wait 800 ms and sign you in. Sign-up checks that a password has at least 10 characters with a number or symbol, then goes to a fake "verify" step. No credential is checked or stored anywhere. - Treat it as a UI reference or starting point for a front end. A real product needs a backend, real auth, multi-user sync and tests. The repo has no test suite.
Why people might star it
It is a large, tidy example of a SPA in plain ES modules with a coherent design system, which is useful as a reference for people who want to see an app of this shape without React or Vue. A thousand stars and 229 forks within weeks, with one author and three commits, says more about launch attention than about maturity. I did not look into how it got that attention.
Caveats
- No license is the main blocker for copying code or running it in a product. Ask the author or look for a license before reuse.
- String-built HTML means every dynamic value must go through the
esc()helper to avoid XSS. I sawescused inauth.js, but I did not audit the other pages. This matters once you attach real data. - The very large
actions.js(over 2,000 lines) holds most behavior, which makes it hard to extend. - Not checked: accessibility beyond the ARIA attributes I saw in the login form, performance with a large number of tasks, and the live demo.
